This letter written by Sakamoto Ryôma (1835-67) is addressed to captain of naval rescue troops, Nagaoka Kenkichi (1834-72). It informs him of Ryôma's arrival at the port of Susaki in the domain of Tosa (present day Kôchi Prefecture) and his plans to travel to Kyoto via Nagasaki.
