This letter was sent from the lumber shop, Suya, at Sanjô Kawaramachi in Kyoto. The content ranges from Ryôma's lamenting the cowardice of his niece's husband, Seijiô; to his thoughts about his sister, Otome's, criticism of his activities with the wise Gotô Shôjirô; and his admonitions regarding Otome's seeking his approval to leave Tosa and come to Kyoto.
