According to Collected Inscriptions of Mirror Makers, Shimizu Kawachi-no-kami Munetsugu worked actively in the period from Kan'ei (1624-44) to Kanbun (1661-73) (Hirose Tosen, 1974). This work shows a composition characteristic of the 17th century, with its very fine sand texture and a large open space on the right. However, the casting is generally not very sharp, so it might well be fumikaeshi kagami (replica casting of another mirror) made in the mid-Edo period or later.
