This work depicts the Eight Views of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers. While the oldest sliding door paintings of the Yōtoku-in Temple are dated to around 1490, the artist of this painting is not identified today. During the Edo period (1615–1868) it was attributed to Shūbun (dates unknown).
