The work depicts the Four Accomplishments (zither, chess, calligraphy and painting) of the cultured literati and counts among the oldest of Yōtoku-in’s sliding door paintings. The motifs of flowering plum blossoms, pine trees, and snowy mountains appear to indicate the changing aspects of the four seasons.
