Jirōzaemon bina dolls, with round heads, small eyes and noses, and mild expressions, are named after the Kyoto doll shop Hinaya Jirōzaemon that created them. Their costumes are made after actual formal court costumes. In most cases, the male doll wears a black ceremonial sokutai robe, while the woman wears a karaginumo short open-front cloak.
