Hina Dolls, Kyōho bina Type

Museum No.
IK821-7
享保雛 Image

Kyōho bina dolls are characterized by narrow heads, elongated slit eyes, and hair made from silk thread. This pair is outfitted in courtly garments of silk lampas woven with gold threads—textiles that look lavish but would not actually be used for authentic costumes of the nobility. The empress doll wears an elaborate crown ornamented with beads.
