Related Works
The brushwork in this relatively early work reveals the artist’s knowledge of paintings by the earlier master Sesshū (1420 –1506?), yet the mountainous rocks and pavilions already show Sesson’s unique distortive touch. Sesson once wrote, “Though I have spent many years studying Sesshū, look at the difference in our painting styles.”
