This important screen by Sesson shows Chinese-style court ladies in a luxurious pavilion, but the specific subject matter is unclear. Sesson uses intricate, formal brushwork with ink gradations. Especially distinctive are his deformed rocks and fantastical fingerlike waves. This screen was previously in a European collection.
