This album copies script by the “sage of calligraphy” Wang Xizhi (303–361) and his son Wang Xianzhi (344–386). Jiang Chenying was then owner of the elder Wang’s Seventeen Model Book (cat. no. 12), which itself later came into the Ueno Collection. A dated inscription tells us that Chenying did this calligraphy when he was sixty-five years old.
