Hamano Naoyuki (also Chokuzui, 1745–1819) was known for using not only iron and bronze but also pewter and other unusual alloys. He was a member of the well-known Hamano school of metal carvers based in Edo (Tokyo), whose founder was the subject of a Rakugo (comical storytelling) narrative titled Hamano Noriyuki.
