Itô Jakuchû (1716-1899) put into pictures inspirations he had when he went for boat ride on the Yodo River with the monk Daiten from the Shôkoku-ji Temple. Unlike a typical print on paper, this work was done as an ink rubbing, which was yet thought to be sophisticated and modern at the time. Jakuchû used the same method in his albums, such as Kenpo yôka and Soran chô.
