In his letter to the courtier Nakanoin Michimura (1588–1653), the tonsured prince Manshuin no Miya Ryōjo confirms that he would be joining a certain reading lecture shortly after noon as told by his older brother. It is likely that the lecture mentioned refers to is the Tale of Genji of which his father, Nakanoin Michikatsu (1556–1610), was in charge.
