This mandala was donated to the Kyoto National Museum by Mr. Shiro Domoto of Kyoto in memory of his wife. The painting is approximately one quarter of the size of the original Taima Mandala, measuring approximately 212 centimeters in height by 189 centimeters in width. In comparison to a square mandala of similar size belonging to Chion-in Temple, the platform is deeper and the scene has a greater sense of perspective. Although the color tones were darker than the Chion-in edition, recent conservation has revived the overall details of the painting.
