This brass mirror is dark brown in color. The straight-sided rim is of medium thickness, and there are rough spots on the inner surface of the rim (in the lower part of the image), apparently the result of a casting flaw. The conical knob is flattened on top, and the knob surround takes the form of flower pistils spread out around the knob like flower petals. Sprigs of paulownia leaves and pine needles are arranged in geometric fashion around the knob. The paulownia resembles Mirror with Paulownia and Birds (EK17-28) in style and expression, a gentle touch of the spatula resulting in softened lines. The merging of the pistil on the knob surround, tipping into a belt of jewels, is a relatively later feature.
