This set of dolls represent dancers performing for the imperial court harvest ceremony. The ladies wear a set of multiple layered garments in red and green color tones. Although the actual number may vary, this type of kimono is referred to as “twelve-layered robe,” and was worn by court ladies 1000 years ago.
