This fukusa gift cover shows imagery from the Noh play Shōjō, in which a red-haired boyish sea sprite of the same name presents the good man Kōfū with a magical jar of rice wine that never empties, making him rich and successful. Shōjō is a merry, drunken red-faced figure who plays in the waves and performs an ebullient dance.
