Kake-bukusa is a decorative cover for gifts on happy occasions and therefore auspicious motifs are chosen. On this cloth, a gracefully shaped old pine tree is depicted approximately in the center, and underneath the branches three boys are collecting pine cones. The auspicious touch is emphasized by plenty of gold threads on the red cloth. Some Kake-bukusa pieces simply focus on beauty without necessarily concentrating on aesthetics, but this piece was carefully made. The gold threads are relatively thin, the pine tree is depicted elaborately, water and clouds in the distance are described in detail, and the arrangement of the boys is well done.
