Overview

Sake Cup with Scenes of the Twelve Months in Makie

Museum No.
HO37

Each of these cups represents activities of one lunar month of the year. They begin with Manzai dancers for the New Year and end with snowball-rolling for the twelfth month. On the underside of each cup is a seasonal plant for that month. They were a custom order, inspired by a painting of the same subject, which is also on view.
