Among Shino ware with underglaze iron decoration, the body of work fired in multichambered climbing kilns is known as Shino Oribe. Compared with ceramics fired in the old style "great kilns" (ôgama), Shino Oribe is characterized by the following features: the glaze melts thoroughly, showing no ash gray color, and the underglaze iron decoration is blackish.
