Domaru Armor with Black Leather Lacing and Variegated Cords

Museum No.
EK205

This armor is composed of alternately arranged black-lacquered leather and iron kozane scales. The upper part of the body and the shoulders are laced with purple, red, and white cords, and the lower part is laced with black leather thongs.
This piece exhibits classic armor style in its pair of gyoyo ornaments on the breast and its seven-piece kusazuri skirt. However, the narrow scales with their thick lacquer finishing, the narrow odoshige leather thongs and the illustration of lions and peonies are characteristic of the Muromachi Period.
