This armor has thin, long gold-leafed leather segments tied together with red cords, which are lined in a pair. This style of armor, developed in the late Muromachi period, could be produced quickly. Moreover, the shape of the breast plate and segmented skirt (kusazuri) made it easier to move in. These features, along with the openwork metal design with gold-plated chrysanthemums and arabesque, and leather in gold leaf, are characteristic of armor from the Momoyama period.
