This album includes ten missives dating from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties by officials including Li Chunfang, Jiao Hong, and Kuo Chongtao. Li Chunfang, a native of Xinghua, Zhili Province (modern Hebei), passed the civil exam with highest honors in 1547 and reached the position of imperial overseer of personnel. He is also known by the pseudonyms Zishi and Shilu. Kuo Chongtao (1818-1891), a native of Xiangyin, Hunan Province, passed the civil exam in 1847 and assumed pseudonyms such as Wang Chen and Yunxian.
