Nagao Uzan (1842-1942) and Tomioka Tôka, the son of Tomioka Tessai (1836-1924), held Shousuhui in 1914 (Taishô3) to celebrate the birthday of Su Dongpo (1036-1101), after Uzan returned to Japan from China. Shousuhui later became an annual event. This work was composed and sent by Wu Changshuo (1844-1927) in Shanghai at the request of his old friend, Uzan, for Shousuhui in 1920 (Taishô 9).
