This work contains four yuefu ("songs and poems") by Li Dongyang (1447-1516). All four are contained in Jujuhoulu but not in Huailu tang ji. According to Jujuhoulu, the first four of the eleven poems of Xinchun ranxing were composed in 1504 (Hongzhi 17) when Dongyang was sick in bed. Li Dongyang became a jinshi ("successful candidate of the national civil service examination held at the imperial capital") in 1464 (Tianshun 8) and is known for his exceptional assistance to the eccentric Emperor Wuzong of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) in the realm of politics. He was accomplished in poetry composition and calligraphy. His artist name was Huailu.
