This anthology of poems by the legendary Tang poet Bai Juyi (772–846) was copied by Mochiakira, official court Doctor of Literature and Calligraphy (monjō hakase). Six years later, he added his own annotations to the text. This is known as the Kanda Edition, as Vols. 3 and 4 were once owned by scholar and former Kyoto National Museum director Kanda Kiichirō (1897 –1984).
