Bao Xi (b. 1871), from Zhenglanqi in Inner Mongolia, is also known by his sobriquet (Ch., zi) Ruichen and pseudonym (Ch., hao) Shenan. In Guangxu 18 (1892), he passed the civil service examination and held several high official posts. After the revolution, he served as an advisor to the head of the prefectural government, and after the establishment of Manchuria, he became counselor of domestic affairs. Bao Xi also authored a collection of poems entitled Dong you shi cao (Notes on Poems from the Journey to the East).
