The Record on the Mirror of Orthodoxy (Ch., Zongjing lu, J., Sugyôroku), in one hundred volumes, consisting of passages from sutras and commentaries explaining the basic teachings of Chan (J., Zen), was compiled by the Chinese monk Yanshou (904-975). This manuscript was printed as part of the entire Buddhist canon (Ch., dazang jing; J., daizôkyô) at Dongchan Dengjue Temple in Fuzhou Province, China, between 1080 (Yuanfeng 3) and 1112 (Zhenghe 2) of the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127). Commonly known as the Dongchan Temple Edition, this printed manuscript is dated 1108 (Daguan 2).
