This scene depicts how the deified Sugawara no Michizane instructs Tarōmaru, son of a priest in Ōmi (Shiga), to build Kitano Shrine. The monochrome ink painting and the accompanying text come from the beginning of a long handscroll that was cut into pieces in the 20th century. The fragments are now in collections in Japan and abroad.
