The body of this lidded container, used for holding sweets, is made of soldered brass covered with intricately bent wires filled with multicolored cloisonné enamels. The auspicious designs include Chinese “treasures” (including crossed cloves/rhinoceros horns), interlinked circles, noshi streamers (dried abalone strips used for ritual gifts) and clouds.
