The Ōi River, the famous bridge Tōgetsu-kyō, and the temple Hōrin-ji are iconic fixtures of Arashiyama in western Kyoto. The monochromic and pale colored ink tones, with snowy areas left unpainted, give this scene a cool, ethereal feel. The rafts and boatmen are allusions to classical waka poetry about this spot.
