This is volume 21 from Kegon Kumokushô Hotsugoki, a commentary on the Chinese scripture, Huayan Kongmu zhang (J., Kegon Kumokushô, compiled by the second Huayan (J., Kegon) patriarch, Zhiyan (602-668), of the Tang dynasty (618-907)), written by the Japanese Kegon master Gyônen (1240-1321). This volume, handwritten by Gyônen himself, has a postscript dated the seventh month of 1287 (Kôan 10). On the back of the paper, also copied by Gyônen, is the Nanzan kyôgishô (Chapter on the Teachings of the [Chinese] Nanshan School), dated 1291 (Shôô 4).
