Overview

Tea Container (Fubuki Natsume) with Bush Clover

Museum No.
HO75

This powdered green tea container (fubuki) with a matte gold ground has a Rinpa-style design of inlaid mother-of-pearl bush clover. It bears the signature of the eponymous Rinpa artist Ogata Kōrin (1658 –1716) but actually was likely made as part of the revival of Rinpa aesthetics in the Meiji period (1868–1912).
