This hina doll set with its own palace was made in 1844 for the daughter of wealthy landlords in central Kyoto. Most doll sets from the Kansai region dispensed with the furnishings standard in Edo (Tokyo) sets, but this ensemble unusually has a full set of lavish lacquered furnishings decorated with leaf-ringed chrysanthemum crests.
