This type of bowl is known as a mantou xin (“steamed bun center”), after its mounded interior. Mantou xin bowls were produced in great numbers in Ming-dynasty Jingdezhen. This one has a quatrefoil roundel surrounded by concentric trefoil and floral arabesque rings in dark cobalt.
