観音図 Image

This image of Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is painted on lustrous silk satin. It may have come from a 1636 album of Guanyin paintings by Chen Xian, now owned by the Ōbaku Zen temple of Manpuku-ji, in Uji. The inscription by Chinese Zen monk Jufei Ruyi was added at the Nagasaki temple of Sōfuku-ji in 1657, right after he arrived in Japan.
