This seated bodhisattva with elaborate jewelry shows the Tibetan influence on Chinese Buddhist sculptures of the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Recent scientific analysis identified the wood to be a kind of linden (lime). It also revealed there to be a large number of scrolls deposited inside this statue as a votive offering.
