Some elaborate hina doll sets come with palace-like structures called goten, which were almost certainly special commissions as they vary significantly. This goten replicates the Shishinden and other actual structures in the Kyoto Imperial Palace. This set was featured in the Kyoto National Museum’s very first special exhibition of Japanese dolls, held in 1926.
