Large-blossomed peonies of pink, red, purple color are arranged in a golden basket. Originally, the painting was a leave in an album. The flowers are rendered in a simple manner, and together with the Chion-in Temple version, attests for the popularity of the subject matter. The painting once belonged to a certain Taya Kenkichi (1876–1955) who lived in Tanabe city, Wakayama prefecture.
