This painting was produced jointly by Baishi and his beloved student Xuean Ruiguang. The inscribed poem on the painting suggests that the two did several such works together. In his notes, collector Suma Yakichirō wrote, “Because this is a joint work by two artists of similar tastes and intentions, it is intermingled to a degree that it is difficult to discern who did what.”
