The design of this mirror suggests that it was made in China, in the late Spring and Autumn period (771-453 B.C.), around the 5th century B.C. Made of a yellowish bronze, the rim is rather irregular, and the surface of the mirror face is quite uneven. These features are typical characteristics of bronze mirrors of this period. There is no boss, to which a cord might be attached, but, instead, there are two round holes near the rim, drilled after the mirror was cast.
