A similar example made by the same artisan exists at Nitta Shrine in Kagoshima Prefecture. Based on the inscription, "Saemonnojô Tomotoshi. Given on the 18th day of the third month of 1294 (Einin 2)," and on the carving of the wings of birds, that one was made in the last half of the 13th century. This mirror was also probably made around the same period.
