Chakutô waka are Japanese poems composed at poetry gatherings that took place over a predetermined number of days, with a fixed number of participants, and for which a set number of poetic topics had been determined for each day. This calligraphy is a segment of chakutô waka from a poetry gathering held by Emperor Gotsuchimikado (1442-1500, r. 1464-1500) together with courtiers, including Kajûji Norihide (1425-96) and Nakanoin Michihide. The work contains fifteen poems. The calligraphers of the poems in this record are those who actually composed the poems. The title and unsigned poems are written in the hand of Emperor Gotsuchimikado.
