Murase Sôseki (1822-77) studied painting under Matsumura Goshun (1752-1811), Matsumura Keibun (1779-1843), Oda Kaisen (1785-1862), and Yokoyama Seiki (1792-1864). Although he belonged to the Shijô school, he often produced southern-style paintings.
