Ippô (1798-1871) from Osaka studied under and was later adopted by Mori Tetsuzan (1775-1841). He produced paintings with a variety of themes. The people of Osaka, in particular, loved his work Mokari bune (E., Seaweed Cutting Boat), because the term in the painting title, "mokari," sounds similar to "môkaru," which means "to make a profit." The piece Crane is particularly interesting since it resembles the style of Nagasawa Rosetsu (1754-99).
