Kikujido and Chrysanthemums

A beautiful attendant boy, who was in favor with Emperor Mu of China's Zhou dynasty (c. 1100-256 B.C.) was the envy of others, and was punished and exiled. The boy became known as Kikujidô, meaning "chrysanthemum child," because he copied sutra texts on chrysanthemum leaves by a mountain stream, and acquired eternal life and youth.
