Museum No.

Exotic, imported textiles such as this were highly valued and avidly collected by connoisseurs of the Way of Tea. Most prized were fabrics known as meibutsu gire, which were often given names. This cloud- and treasure-patterned gold brocade (kinran) is supposedly named after the tea-loving warlord Tomita Tomonobu (died 1599).
