These Gosho dolls capture a sumo wrestling scene. One child serves as umpire, while two boy wrestlers in front of him prepare for the match. This tableau with three dolls and a full-fledged ring (dohyō) is very rare. It was likely made for a little boy in hopes of his healthy development.
