Stoneware coated with amber glaze was popularly produced during the late Choson dynasty (18th-19th centuries) in Korea. The overall proportion of this stoneware is similar to that of blue-and-white porcelain (J., sometsuke) from the same era, whereas works with a narrow mouth, such as this piece, were produced in relatively later years.
