Overview

Bottle with Poems in Underglaze Blue

Museum No.
GK407

Scallion-shaped bottles with faceted bodies were produced in large quantity in the 18th century. The swelling shoulders and a pneumatic sense of volume seen in this example are characteristic of this special bottle form. From its shape and size, it appears to have been used as a sake decanter or sake container.
